County Clare businesses have received grants totalling more than €6 million under the Increased Cost of Business Grant Scheme
Businesses in the county Clare have received more than €6 million to date in grant funding under the Government’s Increased Cost of Business scheme.
The ICOB grant was designed by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment to help SMEs with the increased costs associated with running a business and was administered by local authorities.
Clare County Council has confirmed that 2,370 Clare businesses have received funding under the scheme to date.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke said, “I was delighted to get Government approval for this important Scheme to help small and medium enterprises who are the backbone of our economy. I have spoken to dozens of businesses around the country who availed of the €240m paid out so far and we will continue to work with and support them.
“I would also like to acknowledge the work of the local authorities across the country and thank all the staff involved. They have contributed hugely to the success of the Scheme.”Pat Dowling, Chief Executive Officer added, “The Increased Cost of Business Grant was designed to assist small to medium sized businesses across County Clare. To date Clare County Council has paid out more than €6 million under the scheme, with some more payments pending. The positive engagement with the local authority, and in particular, with the Commercial Rates team in Clare County Council has proven beneficial in ensuring businesses can avail of this scheme.”
